I will not lower my price to $4.9. Here's why.
0 viewsDay 1 of my AI headshot app: 0 sales.
Brain's first instinct: lower the price. $9.9 → $4.9. Half off, who says no?
Then I thought it through and realized a price cut fixes nothing.
The price isn't the blocker. Trust is.
Zero sales on day one means zero traffic, zero reviews, zero social proof. Not "price too high".
If someone hesitates at $9.9, they hesitate at $4.9 too. The thing they're actually unsure about is: "is this real?" A discount doesn't answer that. A result does.
The subscription trap:
$9.9/mo sounds more "AI company". But headshots are a one-time need. You get your photos, you're done. Charging monthly for that is pretending.
Pay-once is a promise: we believe you'll get the result in one shot.
When would I lower the price?
When I have 100 visitors, 10 free trials, and 0 conversions. That's a pricing problem. Right now I have a distribution problem. Don't treat a traffic problem with a price cut.
